2002 with odd noise in a rear wheel when braking.

HI

Now my Grand Prix has a clunk with every revolution of one of the rear wheels when you lightly touch the brakes. If you increase the pressure on the brake pedal, the clunking stops. Let up on the brake pedal but maintain light pressure and the clunking comes back. No brake pedal pressure and it's quiet.

I pulled the wheels and inspected the breaks, rotors, and tried to find any play in the wheel bearings. Everything looks fine.

The clunk is getting louder. I think it's coming from the rear, driver's side, but definitely the rear of the car.

Thanks.

It sounds as though there is excessive play in the rear calipers. Is all the brake pad hardware in good shape? There are spring steel abument clips that go between the pads and the bracket still there? Are the caliper bolts and bushings in good shape and lubricated properly?

What should I use to lubricate the bolts and bushings? Thanks.

use silicone high temp brake grease. The box stores (Advance, Auto-Zone, etc...) sell it in one use packets for about a $1, or you can buy an 8oz can that comes with an application brush for about $10.

Did you look at the inside surface of the rotor? I think it is hard to see without taking the caliper off. If it is worn like my front ones are (possibly from not using the right kind of grease on the caliper pins), the noise is due to a surface that is in real bad shape.
