Front end vibe after brake pad/rotor replace
Just replaced pads and rotors on the 96 Camry 2.2. Town driving and stopping, no noticeable pulsing when I depress brakes. But when I brake at highway speed to a stop, that higher speed braking produces vibes in the front. Are the new rotors warped? Caliper or piston the culprit? Thanks for helping me solve.

"Are the new rotors warped?"
It's possible. Did you clean off all the rust on the hub before installing the new rotors? I have seen rotors that weren't seated evenly because of rust on the hubs. Check that first. Mike |

Not torquing the lug nuts to spec will cause the rotors to warp also.

Re: Front end vibe after brake pad/rotor replace
Check your tie rod ends and ball joints for wear as well. Shaking/vibration during high-speed braking can be caused by sloppiness in the steering and suspension.
Also don't forget to clean and reajust the rear brakes so that they are contributing as well. Front brakes that do all the work will eventually warp. You should be able to feel the rear brakes engage slightly before the fronts when braking lightly. Good luck!

Re: Front end vibe after brake pad/rotor replace
Thanks for all the helpful posts. Cleaning off the hub rust reduced the vibe. Checking the front suspension is needed on this vehicle...that's next.
Now if I can just get rid of that brake squeal. Applied lots of quiet lube on pad back. |
