Speedometer not working

In addition to other issues on my son's 98 contour the speedo isn't working. I have done a lot of things on cars but speedo cables isn't one of them. Any help would be appreciated.

most likekly doesnt have a cable just a sensor on the tail side of the transaxle or it runs off the right front wheel sensor if it does have a cable it will be attached to the tail where the sensor would go

It works now. I think it was related to the alternator issue. (See my other post) Thanks for replying.
