2001 Ford Windstar 3.8L

2001 Ford Windstar 3.8L: AC blows cool but not cold when pressing the acclerator and blows hot when NOT pressing the accelerator. I have put in one can of combination sealer, oil and freon and then another can of straight freon but this did not solve the problem. What else do I need to check or clean?

Re: 2001 Ford Windstar 3.8L

A few options for you.

First, you could be low on Freon. I know you've put more in so that may not be the problem. The only way to check would be to put some gauges on your A/C and see. If you aren't mechanically inclined, it might be worth one of those $30 a/c check-ups from a mechanic.

Secondly, you could just have a worn out compressor. I've seen it, but personally never had it happen to me.

Do you have aux air? Does it get cold. I had a 95 that when it got low on freon, the back would be pretty cold and the front would be only marginally cool.
