Hello I'm gonna change the brake fluid reservoir in m GP since the one installed has a crack on the top. Is it OK to extract the fluid with a vacuum pump or a hose from the reservoir and then take the reservoir out, put in the new one and refill the brake fluid? Or will I need to take apart the hole brake pump?.
Thanks in advance for your answers. Oscar |

Re: '97 Grand Prix Brake fluid reservoir change
Shouldn't have to pull the master. Just like you said, suck it out, replace it, fill it and you should be good to go.

just don't forget to bleed the WHOLE system, starting from the furthest wheel

Re: '97 Grand Prix Brake fluid reservoir change
Shouldn't have to bleed anything if your just replacing the reservoir. Of course the opportunity to flush the brake system since you have a clean reservoir and clean fluid is a good one!

Re: '97 Grand Prix Brake fluid reservoir change
wouldn't there be air introduced in the system?
well, if your brakes are spongy after you changed it; go ahead and bleed the whole system |

Re: '97 Grand Prix Brake fluid reservoir change
No, the rsevoir sits on top. As long as some fluid remains in the hole(s) in the master than the master will not be dry.

Re: '97 Grand Prix Brake fluid reservoir change
Hello airjer and ricebike, thanks a lot for our help guys I changed the reservoir and added some brake fluid and everything went fine. I already drove the car and I didn't have any problem with so I guess I did a good job and no air went into the system. About the system flush, I'm planning to do it untill next weekend. What should I do to flush the whole system?
I really appreciate your help guys, best regards... |
