My gas gauge always drops to empty even when I just filled it up with gas. The low fuel light comes on and I never know how much gas I have left. It has 95,000 miles on it and I just fill it up when I reach 230 miles on the trip. My gas mileage also sucks. I calculate like 10 mpg city/highway. Can anybody help me? I have had a full 100,000 mile service done as well as a tuneup. I heard something about it being the fuel sending unit. Help please...

Re: 2002 Yukon / fluctuating gas gauge
Had same problem, lived w/it for a year using mileage to determine when I filled up. Finally took it to the dealer who dropped tank (too much for me to do) and replaced sender. No issues since.
Re: MPG, I avg. 13.5 (4.8L, 2wd). Consensus is that the gearing of these trucks is for torque and not MPG. Asked the GM mechanic and he said the same thing. |
