Meet the New Caprice

No, it's not another car, it's the same Caprice. It's been reborn.

With all these problems with it, I finally opted to just keep it and give it a new life. What is the new life called? Oh, LT1 383.

She now has a 383 LT1, with some "new" electrical wiring, replacing the old shorted wiring. Sadly check engine light is still on, but that's because the PCM was burnt out too and I still need to replace that.

Seemingly appropriate smily for this situation, haha.

I'll never forget this morning when she put a smile on my face. I raced an LT1 camaro, and WON, and even spun the tires from stop, just starting, only getting traction when it upshifted (then forcing it to downshift again, lol).. It was funny, but with that funky behavior, i STILL won.

Re: Meet the New Caprice

Yep. So, wanna meet the dyno of it? These are crank numbers, not wheel power, as this dyno takes into account the drivetrain.

Dude this is just so cool..and thats a LOT of power!! Looks like you'll be keeping it then..lol! Remember how CLOSE you were to selling? And how many times this happened to. I'll feel the same way once i get my mildly modded 350 swapped in within the month.

Re: Meet the New Caprice

Oh at one point it WAS up for sale, "For Sale" sign and all. I was ready to buy a 93 Camaro. Then I lost a job AGAIN, and had to keep it.

Good thing I did, because I was offered that 383 for FREE. My mechanic had me clean her shop though since that was free also, to install it. Clean, maintain store, etc. Even do an oil change for a customer, to earn the work she's doing for me.

SO excited. It also has an F-body MAF on it, since they are much larger than B-body MAF's.

And god is that a LOT of torque! I guess you were right when you said the rear end wouldn't be able to handle WOT.

Re: Meet the New Caprice

Haha yea Well I already broke a tranny mount in my "fun" spree. So since I need the car tomorrow to take a girl on a date, I'm gonna be easy on her (the car)..
