Old School E21 BMW Alpina C1-2.3

I have finally just about completed this one apart from some dry brushing in the interior and on the chassis. I went for a sort of subtle 1970's E21 racer look and am pretty pleased with the result (although for some reason the bright lemon yellow appears somewhat orangey in the photographs). There were a few issues with the simple Fujimi kit that needed to be corrected and these can be seen in the WIP thread here:

Hope you all like it, all comments welcome!

Nice model. Why don't you use a wash for the panel lines? It would make the model look much more realistic.

Thanks for the comment, I may do a wash yet maybe in a grey colour but I do not like panel lining much as I think it often makes the model more un-realistic due to the scale (unless extremely well done), I think when viewing a real car panel lines are hardly noticeable, except under certain lighting conditions but I know that this is a sensitive subject and everyone has different opinions on the matter! In natural light I think the depth of the re-scribed panel lines on the model gives them more definition that looks realistic IMO, unofrtunately this does not show up in the photographs due to the brightness.

Looks really good. I think you should take some outdoor pics to show it to its best effect. Plus learn how to use your new camera!

Considering the poor Fujimi standard moulding I think it looks much more like the real thing!

It gives me inspiration to start mine!

Very nice result. Are the window surrounds painted or metal foil?

Thanks, the window surrounds are bare metal foil, on the front and rear wind screen and rear side windows rear edge I painted the black edging by hand.

I like it, i think light grey panel lines would be perfect.

Re: Old School E21 BMW Alpina C1-2.3

Nice one.

A nicely executed build. Never seen something like this before. And I like it.

Painting the panellines is indeed a matter of taste, but as others mentioned I think it would be good for this one. It would add a bit more of depth to the model.
But anyway, with or without painted panellines, it still is a very beautiful model.

Re: Old School E21 BMW Alpina C1-2.3

Yeah, I really like this E21 (I have a E28 myself).
Maybe the panel lines in black or gray, and consider a litlle rear boot spoiler in matt-black or something.
Witch brand are these BBS rims, or where they included with the kit?

For the rest a VERY WELL BUILD and clean BMW you showed us here!!

Thank you very much for sharing.....

Re: Old School E21 BMW Alpina C1-2.3

A great one, no doubt about it!...It remembers me the 320is I got back in 1988. A question, where you got the wheels, did they came with the model?

Let me know.

Re: Old School E21 BMW Alpina C1-2.3

This is really a nice job you did on this but there shouldn't be any controversy when it comes to the panel lines, they should be there, period, specially on a light colored car. When they are correctly done, they really set off a model, specially one as well done as this one.
