Auction's site ignition modules?
Has anyone tried these? Those are marked "new", but are being sold at very low prices.
Should I stay away from those? ![]() Thanks!

Re: Auction's site ignition modules?
I replaced mine with one of these
made in Mexico...just like the original ...AOK, and it came with the wire bundle. Was $69.....or $1000 for lot of 30 units......Local was like Cdn$370GM, $270 aftermarket... This is a very probable source of problems at that age and at that price I recommend every one with those vintage 3800 cars to buy one at least as a spare. So easy to switch them when problems arise at least for a test....

Re: Auction's site ignition modules?
Hello LMP...
I'm decided to change it, but I'm finding some on "the" auction site that are for sale for $25 plus shipping. I'm wondering what they put on them to make them so cheap, and most importantly, whether these things will work for any decent amount of time. Where did you find yours?

Re: Auction's site ignition modules?
Well...it seems all prices have gone down since I bought one, but this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ignit...Q5fAccessories seems to be similar....
This model D1977a is so widely used all across GM models I'm not surprised mass production allows for a low price. Those in the $45-$49 range would be OK for me. In fact, the electronics in these is quite conventional basic analog transistor circuitry and nothing justifies sky high prices. When I started suspecting mine, I used conventional analog electronics testing methods on the bench and I could pinpoint exactly where the problem was. www.avigex.ca/xport/IgnitionModule.jpg $229 as shown for some is almost criminal.
