454 starts fine cold

1990 Itasca MH on chevy p30 chassis with a TBI 454

Starts up cold with a fairly high idle when it idles down it runs rough and has an intermittent loss of vacuum then back to ok but rough and then it starts dumping fuel big time and chokes out. And difficult to restart.
Would this be a temp sensor?

From your post it could be a faulty ECT. Normally located near the t-stat. Not to be confused with the drivers side head sensor for the gauge.

Re: 454 starts fine cold

Just for the heck of it Today I tried starting it cold with the ECT unplugged.

It took a couple tries but it started and ran at a high idle a bit rough lol

and then it idled down to a normal idle speed, mind you a little rough but for a minute maybe it was ok and then just like with the ECT plugged in it's like a vacuum valve opens and it dumps a pile of fuel and chokes out.

EGR opening maybe?
