Question tranny cooler?

I know this may sound dumb to some but can someone tell me where the tranny cooler is located and how to make sure it is working properly on a 98 Intrique with the 3800SII?

I"m getting really frustrated with trying to come up with a solution to my tranny shift issues so I"m going to say screw it and do the seafoam trans tune thing and see if it makes a difference.

I really have nothing to lose trying right.I just want to be sure the tranny cooler is working properly because allot of the shifting issues I"m having seems to be when the car is cold. After she warms up a bit it shifts smoother.

Thanx guys.

There isn't a separate transmission fluid cooler. It is integrated into the driver's side of the radiator which is (for the most part) the de-facto standard for FWD cars with an automatic transmission. The fluid is routed through a metal tube in the radiator that is submerged in coolant. Unless it's leaking, it's working properly. They can fail/leak with age/wear, but that is a very uncommon issue. The only way you could tell is if you check your coolant & tranny fluid to make sure they are not mixing together.

Just check your coolant reservoir, the transmission fluid will float like oil does.
