Transmission ? about a 94 Jimmy

I need to know if a transmission ffrom a 92 S10 Blazer will fit my 94 Jimmy 4wd? The Jimmy has the 4.3 Vortec VIN W and the blazer had the TBI motor - does that make a difference?

May fit if both 4X4 but things will not work right.
93 is first 4L60e electronic controled transmission.
92 is 4l60 with no computer stuff.

94 Jimmy electrical/transmission problem

I have a few questions I guess, kinda stumped on this. I was coming home from work, and my alternator went out, then my tranny just started slipping really bad when taking off, I got good reverse, and can go in second, so if my alternator is out and battery low is it possible that this would cause the tranny to go into limp mode? I think I may have an electrical problem because I turn the ket on and none of my dash lights come on like they used too, like the ses lighgt, brake light- none of these light up but my headlights work. This all happened at the same time and it wont stay running which since everything is electronic on it and its not getting the voltage from the alternator has anyone ever had anythingl ike this? Im going to put a charged battery in it and see if I can get any codes out of it or at least see if the lights come back on. I just changed the fluid in it about a month ago and didnt see hardly any metal in the pan so I dont think it would just all of a sudden go out, along with my alternator in one day.

Re: Transmission ? about a 94 Jimmy

I thought the tranny went out and found one from a 92 blazer for 200 and wanted to see if it would fit is the reason for asking about it. I have to put mine in 2nd to get it to get going, I have no lights at all on my dash when I turn my key on, the alternator is bad but Im on my way now to get one and see what that fixes. I cant see the alternator and tranny going out at the same time. I did some rearch online and found articles to where the tranny goes into limp mode, and I was thinking since the alternator isnt putting out the voltage then the tranny isnt going to work right. Sorry if it all sounds goofy MT, Im just confused today about alot of things and nothing seems to be going right for me.

Fix the alt and then see what it does.
Post back how it goes.

Re: Transmission ? about a 94 Jimmy

I got it fixed, it was the alternator. I had it checked and it showed it was putting out 14.5 volts like it should which I dont understand but that is without drawing any current from it. SO I took the chance and got a rebuilt one for 60.00 and it fixed everything, my dash lights was the fuse, thanks for the help MT

Thanks for posting back the fix and how it went.
60$ was a cheap transmission fix.
Was alt checked on truck or parts place machine?

Re: Transmission ? about a 94 Jimmy

the alternator was checked off the truck, I found a guy who rebuilds alternators, ho owns his own shop, he has a machine like autozone and it showed good on his machine, but he said I can buy a rebuilt one for 60 and if it wasnt the problem that he would let me bring it back and get my old one. So if it wasnt the problem I wasnt out the 60 bucks. But I did have a tranny lined up for 150.00 with 95,000 miles on it out of a 94 blazer just in case.

Re: Transmission ? about a 94 Jimmy

yea, testing components is tough. my starter tested good at autozone 3 times, but a soon as it was in the truck, it wouldn't work. replaced it, and it was fine.

Re: Transmission ? about a 94 Jimmy

you would think they would design a machine that would pull some current from it while testing it though.
