1993 F150 4.9L Hesitates during initial acceleration

I have had this truck for several years now and have about 143K miles on it. The engine is fuel injected with a manual transmission. I have always had a problem with a momentary hesitation as soon as you start to press the gas pedal. If I "tease" it by repeatedly tapping the pedal the engine will just about die out. Other than that the engine idles and runs fine. I did some initial checks a while back on the resistance readings of the TPS and they seemed to be OK at the extremes of travel and transitioned smoothly. I am not getting any codes. Anybody have any ideas on this one?

Thanks

Try unplugging the TPS and see how it runs.

Re: 1993 F150 4.9L Hesitates during initial acceleration

MAF sensor? I had one go bad on my 93 cougar and it did the same thing. it would stall and die if i tried keeping it running with excessive throttling from an idle. bad hesitation taking off. almost to the point of dying. unplugged the sensor for awhile due to lack of money to replace it and it straightened out somewhat. replaced the sensor short time later and it never acted up again. the tricky part was that it never threw a code. try unplugging it and see what happens
