Coolant for 04 town car?

I noticed that my reserve tank is getting pretty low so I wanted to top it off, but wasn't sure what to top it off with since the are so many different types of coolant and didn't want to use the wrong stuff.

The tank currently has the orange stuff.

Re: Coolant for 04 town car?

thats dexcool (pink)in there now you can not mix the old anti-freeze with the new
anti-freeze( DEXCOOL).if you flush out the entire coolant you can use the older
you just can'nt mix or it will clog up cooling system

Do I use just dexcool or the dexcool 50/50 mix? I'm not flushing the system, I just want to fill up the reserve tank.

I don't believe Ford ever used a Dexcool coolant. Is it really orange? Or is it the Ford Gold coolant (yellowish) that is getting rusty and old? If it's the latter, flush the system completely and refill with Ford Gold coolant. Mix with equal part distilled water and enjoy.

It's definitely orange. I'm 100% sure.

I just got the car a couple weeKs ago so I really don't know when the last time it was flushed, but it looks pretty clean and new to me. It's got 230k miles so im sure it was donE at some point
