engine rebuild for turbo prep?
Ok I'm new to this forum and to tuning cars, in general. I'm looking to turbo/supercharge my 94 GSR. I'd like to go with a turbo, cause I've heard they can generally give more hp. However, I've also heard that I would probably want to reinforce/rebuild certain parts of the engine for turbos. Is this true for supers as well?

depends on the boost, but for alot of hp (over maby 80) i would say yes. your high comp. ratio would play a part in that too.

if you're going to run more then 6-9 lbs of boost then you should definatly look into rebuilding the bottom end of your block I.E. pistons, rods. rebuilding your head with race valves and springs wouldn't hurt either. but if you want to go all out get some turbo cams and rebuild the whole engine.

Thanks for the input guys. Anyone know an average price for having an engine rebuilt?

im not sure about the labor. if you think you can id say pick up a helms manual and DIY. pistons and rods maby 600, springs and retainers 400.
