Blazer problems
I have a 95 Chevy Blazer and thanks to this forum i have been able to continue driving it without problems,
However, in the last week, or it seems since the weather turned warm , it starts prfectly in the morning and if you're in and out of a store, it starts perfectly but after you park it for half hour and come back to start it it turns over but it's like its lacking fuel, After half a dozen tries it eventually starts and there after you can turn it off and start it as many times as you want, but drive it and stop for 20 minutes and it doesnt want to fire. What do these symptoms indicate? |

Re: Blazer problems
The symptoms indicate a problem
![]() What is the 8th character in the VIN? Is the SES light on? If so, are there and codes? When it acts up, do you have a blue, not orange, spark at every plug? When it acts up, can you hear the fuel pump run when you turn the key to RUN, (not start)? Have you checked fuel pressure with a gauge? If so, what are the readings? How many miles since the last tune up, (AC Delco plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, rotor, fuel filter, air filter, oxygen sensors)?

Re: Blazer problems
Not sure on the Vin number at this time , did a total tune up 8,000 kilometers ago, I can hear the fuel pump when i turn the key on, no SES light, engine turns over as if it had a drop of fuel it would fire.
Now some would say fuel filter, but it runs perfect in between these incidents and as i said it's usually after a 15 minute drive and a half hour wait after. Once it starts there is no sign of problems you can turn it off and on over and over, no probs. I dont know enough, but it would seem that if there was fuel pressure retained in the fuel system, after a short drive and a 20 min. half hour wait after turning ignition off in warm weather, that pressure is lost. Anyone recall before fuel injection when you would hear the engine turn over almost ready to start and pumping the gas pedal would get it started. That's the sound coming while it's turning over, |

Re: Blazer problems
First, check fuel pressure and leakdown when it acts up. Key on, engine off, fuel pump running, pressure should be 58psi to 64psi and must remain above 53psi for 3 to 5 minutes after the fuel pump shuts off. Post your results.

Re: Blazer problems
Sounds like the exact same problem I had. He has a 95 so his vin is W. I had this problem starts sometimes sometimes have to try many times. Once it sat wouldn't start. Try jump starting it that worked on mine. What i needed was a fuel pump. Guessing the extra current in the jump start got it going.
