91 C2500 antenna wire

I have a '91 C2500 Silverado that I've just replaced the radio receiver on. This did not solve the problem I have with poor radio reception. The dash has been apart on this truck before, and I think that the wire from the receiver to the antenna mast may have gotten pinched, or is just faulty. I am planning on removing this wire to investigate. What is the best way to go about it?

the OEM antennas rust out ...I have found that the power antennas are very bad with this when old like your vehicle ..

I purchased a cheap wally mart made in china manual antenna and the reception was back ....
