2001 Silverado WT door locks
Okay, So I'm looking to purchase a 2001 Silverado WT. V6, plain jane you know run of the mill work truck. It has auto locking door locks though. As soon as you start the vehicle the doors lock. The previous town says they have locked the keys in the ignition numerous times because of this. My question is "How do I disable them?" I have read several things about pulling back on the multifunction switch to go into program mode and then hitting unlock. HOWEVER here's the problem... There is no power lock switch. So how do I do this? Is it possible? I really don't like that feature.

This is the way the truck is set up. I can take a picture of it if I need to. I hate cutting wires, is there a way I I can reprogram the bcm? Or pull a fuse. Remember I haven't bought the vehicle yet, I put a bid on it today. Bids don't close until Friday.

i have seen this type of setup installed with aftermarket auto locks. they come with a ignition activated and a FOB no door buttons. and are prone to closing when you dont want them to.
it dies seem like a strange setup but most of the time if its installed the installer wants to buy the button assemby from a junk yard to get a LT or SLT arm rest with OEM buttons or a designer fiberglass modification etc and why pay for generic button design when your trying to improve the look. you do basically have two options to resolve this, both are easy and reversable. cut and cap with a dolphin connector http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=095-350 you will be back at manual locks. and its easy to reverse. buy a standalone button assembly (you will have to research your vehicle and price check) follow instructions for assembly from manufacture. most likely will involve cutting into the arm rest. if you do this invest in a dremel, cut your hole small and slowly sand your way to the marks and test fit frequentally to insure a tight fit with no over cuts or rough edges. buy either aftermarket or junk yard arm rest with the buttons. pull out the old install the new done. be aware that all of these options except cut the wires, will involve some basic understanding of electrical circutry and how to read line diagrams. these are just opinions, from my own experiance with the W/T and its upgrades to interior, to attain LS, or LTS options
