Unhappy finally happened...but now what?

well it finally happened. I got into an accident. Wasn't paying attention or something. Anyways, i ended up with a bent hood, a scratched bumper cover, a bent bumper frame, and the frame that runs right behind the grill too. I had some black housing headlights that got kinda scratched too. The frame by the fender that held the headlight in at that point got bent too. My hood won't come up either. Its locked on something. Anyways, for the last month i've been changing my mind on whether or not to get a body kit and i figure now is as good a time as any to start on the body work. I have to pay the first $500 and insurance will pay the rest, so i'm not totally screwed. I was looking into the Black Widow body kit cause i like the dual exhaust. I know i lose some power but i tend to lean more toward looks anyway. I know everybody and their mom has the BW kit but its the only style i can find on different wesites that has the dual exhaust cut out. After i get everything fixed i want to get this kit put on but that wont be for awhile. What should i do? Oh i need a new hood and CF ones are cheaper than getting a replacement and painting it. My car's black, would a CF hood look good or decent on my black car?

10 freeway in West Covina, about a mile from where i work. I was on the way to a courthouse in downtown L.A. There was a total of 5 cars involved but i guess it was written down as two different reports. I was in the fast lane. In front there was an old Ford minivan, then came a new Ford Taurus, then came a Toyota minivan, then the Mercedes, then me. The minivan had to stop cause of traffic and instead of just slowing down he came to a complete stop. You know those people that at intersections leave about 2 car lengths between the car in front of it? Well that was this guy in the fast lane. So the Taurus behind hit the minivan of course. The toyota minivan was able to stop without hitting the Taurus, then i think the Mercedes just barely came up and hit the 2nd minivan, but i came behind the Mercedes and it hit and that made more damage between the Mercedes and the minivan. So the Ford minivan and the Taurus were recorded as one incident and the 2nd minivan, the mercedes, and i were recorded as another. No one could prove what damage was done between the Mercedes and the minivan the second before i hit the mercedes. so i'm responsible for the Mercedes rear and front, and the minivan's rear. I like the Mercedes though cause the the rear bumper was built like a rock. All it had was some white powder on the back. Oh, and i don't understand that. The Mercedes is black, my civic is black, how come there was white surface scratches and powder on her and my bumpers? I had a spare t-shirt and a half a bottle of water and we just wiped off all the dust on her car and it looked new again when it dryed. Except my bumper has a nasty scratch down it (license plate should cover it) and a messed up hood along with some frame damage. I'm gonna go with a shop that the insurance prefers, but in a couple months when i have the money again and everything is fine i want to get some body work done to it but don't know of any body shops around my area. I want to get some fenders put on along with a body kit. And as long as i need a new hood now, should i get a carbon fiber one and would that look good anyway?

Hahahahaha...that's soooo funny:hehe:

Naw, I'm totally joking. Well I'm glad no one was hurt and that you only have to pay $500. My deductible was $1,000 when I had full coverage:o Atleast now it just encourages you to get some body work done.

Do you HAVE to go to the body shop your insurance suggests, or can you go to your own? I know I've mentioned them before to you, but I'd definitely go to Auto Explosion. They're in Gardena. Like I've said a million times, if I were going to have my body work done in LA again, I'd DEFINITELY go there.

Well good luck with getting everything fixed.

ok i'm trying to get out of this buy paying the least amount possible and coming away with a body kit. the frame under the hood and behind the bumper are the only things i can't replace or fix myself. What should i do? Should i just get the frame fixed myself out of my own pocket, that shouldn't be more than 500 right? But then if i want them to replace the hood it will be more than 500 but i'm still going to have to pay the 500. If my bumper has only got a couple scratches in it and a quite a few of the clips are broken too, would it be cheaper to get a black widow front bumper or a replacement? Can i order a black widow bumper and have them pay for it if the bumper i have now is in that bad of shape? What should i do?

oh wait it gets better. To make a long story short, when i got home today i see that there's a scratch on my rear bumper (i took my mom's car to work). My brother tells me one of his friends hit it with the metal pedals on his bike. He also said that because they think i need a new hood, that one of his fat friends jumped on my hood causing a big dent in the hood, and that they also hit the front the hood where its bent with a hammer. One of the guys acidentally threw a small wrench in the air and it landed on my hood. To top it off, one of the guys wrote "this car is gay" in dust on my trunk. These guys act try to act tough with their bikes and while they work out in the garage. I just don't get these kids. I'm 19 and they're 14 and 15. They try to blow up propane tanks in the backyard. The throw cement blocks off the roof of the house. I don't think this is normal stuff and now i gotta get my rear bumper fixed. Oh yeah, how can i handle this body kit stuff? should i get everything fixed except the rear bumper, charge the kid what it would cost to take out the scratch and put that money towards the body kit fund?

yeah i got pics of my car but not with damage (in my profile). Those haven't been developed yet. I'm gonna take my car into the shop today when it stops raining and after i take all my junk out of it. I think i'm just gonna get everything fixed and then in a couple weeks i'm gonna buy a body kit and take it back to this shop if i like their work.

who gives a crap what some 14 yr old kids on bikes think. ask them if they wanna race, lol. i know how it feels. i got in a wreck with around the same amount of damage 3 months ago (2 days before my birthday!). My car is totally fixed now, except for my hood. My carbon fiber one is coming in wednesday. I'll take pics so you can see what it'll look like on a black car. Hope everything works out!

p.s. besides the tail lights, nice car ;]

yeah tell me about it. And i totally agree with the tailights. I was bidding on a couple auctions on ebay for tailights for the 99-00, like the ones you have. I ended up not paying attention to it cause of my accident and stuff. I may actually put my stock ones back in even though they have the ugly amber and red. I believe that those tailights were the first thing i bought and i liked them then. They caused me nothing but trouble. Got pulled over, not getting a good response by most people (and i can see why), i want the clean look, and they just don't look good! But anyway, i'm taking my car into the body shop today and because its close to my house i know what shop they want me to go. Its two shops sort of together and from what i can remember one of the shops was restoration shop for old classics. I'm just wondering what kind of response i'll get there when i go in today. Its not totally like that, most of the cars there are regular newer cars, but i know that they have quite a few cars that they are restoring.

emerge, get your pics up asap with your hood on your car. I'm anxious to see what it looks like anyway whether i do the same or not.

These kids are gonna have to pay. The scratch in the back bumper they know they are gonna pay for, but the dent in the hood they don't think they'll pay for cause they think i'm getting a new hood anyway, and i probably will. I'm gonna have an estimate done on just what they did, bring back the paper and tell them that's what they owe me. We'll see if that works.
