Distributor leak...Need advice?
Hey all, reason why I have posted on the CRX forum is because, this forum is more active than the lude forum, and with all the engine swaping going around here I know i can get a response. Here it is, my distributor has a pool of oil on the inside. Now I have thought to replace the o ring, but now I'm told it could be the interior bushing, any one have any ideas?

Honda dist are not rebuildable. You have to replace the whole thing

An O-ring should be a very simple thing to replace to solve your problem. If your distributor is worn out from a mechanical standpoint, i.e. it's clanking around, it can be rebuilt. Usually the problem a distributor has is with the electronic parts, and the previous fellow is right: most of the time you must replace the entire distributor.
If the o-ring doesn't work, it'll probably be cheaper to buy a replacement distributor on eBay. When my distributor kicked the bucket, I got another one (used) on eBay for $59 plus shipping. Junkyard price: $150. Autozone price: $300 (and they'll have to order it). Dealer price: $750! Weasels... Flunky |

Re: Distributor leak...Need advice?
I guess its determined by what you mean by rebuildable. I replaced the brass bushing and 0-ring in mine for a total of $8.00 from NAPA and the problem is fixed. (Leaks and Noise) Works good as new.

Re: Distributor leak...Need advice?
yes, honda distributors ARE rebuildable, you just can't get a kit for it.. you have to source the parts individually, and know something about what you're doing... go to napa, you can get that bushing, and the o-ring and put them both in yourself.
