steering disengage at full lock

When I have a sharp turn and turn the wheel to full lock, I lose driving power and the engine revs, like it has slipped out of gear. If you turn the wheel back, it "goes into gear"

Automatic trans of course, but I am wondering with front wheel drive is this just a failing CV axle?

If a CV joint fails you no longer move. There is no in between.

Well I do lose power (not to the engine) like it is slipping out of gear, but just curious why it is just at full lock.

Does engine rev if you are sitting at idle and pull the steering wheel to the full stop? What about if you have your foot on the brake and have it in gear and go to the full stop?

That's an interesting problem for sure!

I haven't tried that, it is just making U-turns, when I am actually just on the gas, trying to move it forward, feels like a stick in neutral.

Is the transmission fluid level OK?
