weird....2001 silverado

drive to the bank..truck was fine..go to leave the bank..start the truck up and it shuts off right away..start again..shuts off right away..i drive it home like 5 blocks pushing on the gas when i come to a stop..only way to keep it running..otherwise if i come to a complete stop it would shut off the second i push on the gas..if i put it in park it would run but the rpms would be wayyyy low...so i get it home and let it set for about 30 min..go back out and it fires up like normal and i take it around the block and runs like normal..truck has half a tank of midgrade in it so i know i'm not low on gas..wtf is going on guys?

no check engine Lights you must check fuel pressure ...use the proceedure here at this forum for your vehicle...need pressure guage..

if pump is defective get delphi pump...other pumps fail quickly..

guessing is not required . use the fuel pressure testing proceedure ..

DRL lamp has a fuse . check the fuses /....get the new lamps that are long life ////I think 4157 LL ..auto zone has them ...

Re: weird....2001 silverado

yea i dunno whats going on..went to go to the store tonight and it tried the same stuff so i reved it a few times and drove a few blocks doing the whole foot on brake and gas at the same time then the truck started running fine..i dunno wtf is going on..this is happening out of nowwhere..and as far as my drls i checked the fuses they looked all good the only thing it could be is the main relay for them but when i changed out the bulbs the plastic where the bulb plugs in was browned and burned looking so i dunno..

the bulb lamp socket does turn brown this is normal ...

you must get a volt ohm meter to check / troubleshoot these problems..

with your fuel, once again you must use the testing proceedure with a pressure guage to troubleshoot your engine running issues ..

Re: weird....2001 silverado

Try some fuel injector cleaner. Maybe fuel system is a little dirty.

Re: weird....2001 silverado

i wonder if it is related to my smog check valve problem..the truck did it today again..drove to the store with no issues..get back in it and start it it shuts off then drove a few blocks with foot on gas and brake at stops then it clears up...almost like on an older car when u don't let it warm up or somthing.. i dunno wtf is going on..was thinking about dirty gas too since i just got alot of gas but it seems to do it after taking a short trip and shuting the truck off...

Re: weird....2001 silverado

i feel stupid but by chance would a loose batt connection cause these problems?? stalling..not wanting to stay running...
i was turning my truck around in the street and it went totally dead..no click no nothing so i tighten up the batt wires and truck fired right up with no problem..could this of been the problem the whole time was a loose batt connection..about 4 days ago my amp wire got ripped out from the batt bolt that left a gap..right now when i tighten it it went all the way tight..no gap..so is this my problem maybe?

This could do it too. I actually had similar happen shortly after I got my truck. Took it to the dealer and they replaced the battery (under warranty) after testing determined it was not holding a proper charge. No problems since.

Re: weird....2001 silverado

Had a the same problem and I tightened the battery terminal as well. Today the Fuel Pump finally gave out. Wife was doing about 55 on US1 here in florida when the pump finally quit working. Truck came to a stop and it is in the shop now getting the Pump replaced. I got 8 months out of it after the Battery tightening. If its still running fine then great. If you start noticing Hesitation and rough running in the near future It will be time to replace it.
