Stereo far louder on the left

So, after installing some new speakers in my 03 TC I realized my speakers were far louder on the left side of the vehicle. Now it all makes sense as to why my sound system sounds like garbage. Because I put in new speakers I know it isn't the speakers (at least in the front, I didn't do the rear speakers yet). I'm kind of hoping this is an issue with my head unit and not really a possibility to be an issue with my wiring. I have it temporarily resolved by moving the balance almost completely over to the right.

Am I correct that this is most likely a head unit issue? I had planned on a new head unit in the future anyway... Thanks

Re: Stereo far louder on the left

Theres a setting on the head that lets you change the positions of the audio for the drivers seat, rear seats etc. I think it has to do with the RDS button.

I know its not that. That is the DSP button that I use a lot. Loved it on my Continental. Doesn't matter what setting it is on, left is far louder.

Use the controls to isolate a single speaker at a time. (i.e. front left, rear left, etc.). One speaker may be blown out.

If that is the case you can try replacing any speaker that sounds distorted or low in volume.

I just finished replacing the front speakers. The rear speakers are supposed to be on their way. However, it seems like the whole right side is much quieter. I might just have to buy a new deck.

Does anyone know if the car has a separate amp from the head unit? I know my continental did. That sound system was much better and had more options though.
