Alarm Installation Guide for 4gen Finally Done!!! Check it out!!

Hey all. As promised, here is the picture tutorial for installing an alarm system in a 4gen civic. Does anyone know how I submit this to the forum, because I dont like it that much on yahoo. Well, if anyone has any suggestions, please tell me and I will update the tutorial and include your name in thanks. Also, there was one member who was the backbone of this tutorial but I cannot remember his name. Holla if you find this and let me know so that I can give you your props on the tutorial. Well, here it is.

Thanks alot. It usually takes me an hour or so but with taking the pictures and writing the tutorial, it took about hours. Where can I contact ami to have her list this in the how-to section?

One BIG tip you need to change or not recomend in you tutorial.

BO NOT USE BLACK TAPE for conections if you can not solder and heat shrink the conections you should go to a to radio shack and bye T-taps the allow you to conect in to the wire with out any cutting. they work very well and there is no tape to fall off on those hot summer days which could leave you car unprotected when it loses conections..

also a very clean way to do the alarm, and make it not so easy for them to disarm the alrarm is to pull the drivers seat and full back the carpet run all you wire under the seat, zip tye them all together and loom them mount the alarm brain under the carpet under the seat, that way whe sombodys does get in your car they will not know where to look when they reach for the brain to unplug it. Everybody puts there alarms brains under the dash. well most will brake the window reach under the dash and have the alarm disarmed with in about 15secs, the alrm may go off but not for long.

One more thing it looks like you ran the wire threw the door that is not a good idea no matter how pressed you are for time one pinch of that wire and it more than likely will fry the alarm system.

Don't take this as being rude or raggin on ya, i have ben doing car audio for about 14 years now and working in a shop for about 10 of those years this is just a few tips to help you out, but keep up the good work:flash:

Excellent now I can get my alarm to stop sounding when I open the door and turn on the headlights in that order.

I actually sold the alarm cause I got tired of that.

Thanks for the advice Cf. I will ad this to my tutorial. I havent been doing this for so long, so this is the quick budget way just to get it in. I like the professional tips though and will incorporate them into my tutorial.
Thanks

ya NEVER run the wire through the fender

and puttin the brain there isnt a good idea someone can find it quick and dis arm it plus its in the way of the fuse panel theres a place to stash the brain up in the far left side of the dashjust under the airduct, u gotta remove the fusebox to get to it, but thats easy

Hi,

I have a 90 Civic LX and I have a Commando alarm I an in the process of installing it now.
The only problem I have is with the starter wire.
My alarm says is has a Gray wire that connects to any accesory which requires a (-) output when armed. Ex. starter disable, window roll-up etc....

Can I just connect the wire straight into the Black/White starter wire from the harness?
Or do I require an Starter Disbale Relay?
If I didnt use the relay would it protect against someone tryin to start the car?

Thanks,
Owen

Also one more qucik question.
I want my alarm to go off if someone was to open the doors and the dome light came on it would sound.
I have a BLUE wire that is for: Any additional sensor which reuqires a (-) trigger
I can connect the wire to my dome light right?
Which wire is it and where is it located that I can easily tap into?

Thanks,
Owen

Your question sounds intriguing. Since I am not a professional, I cannot tell you off the bat. But, if you tell me what each wire on the harness does, (as shown in your diagram) I can help you out. Most alarm systems are different so I would need this info.

Thanks

Hi Ok Thanks,

RED- COnnects directly to the battery 12+ volt
(already connected directly to the battery- did not use solid White wire as described direct battery connection)

GREEN- Connect to Ignition (+) Switch
(So I connect it to Black/yellow wire leading from dash)

BLACK- Connect to a good ground
(Connected it to good Ground)

GRAY- Connect to any accessory which requires a (-) output when armed.
(I know I have to connect this to starter wire right? The Black/White wire correct? Will it actually prevent someone from starting the car without a starter relay? It says my alarm will require one to work?)

BLUE- Connect to any additional accessory sensor which requires a (-) trigger
(I want to connect it to the dome light so that if someone tried opening the door wit it armed it would go off, which wire is to the dome light?)

YELLOW- Connect to the (+) side of the Parking Light
(thats easy just connect it to the Red/Green wire for the parking lights right?)

RED/BLACK- Its easy the red wire just goes to the LED indicator and black to ground

Its a CHEAPO alarm that is only good for 12 volt sensors that will sense if someone opened my door or tried to start my car. Which is all I really need.
The only thing that worries me is the starter thing. Am I going to need a starter relay or will it still actually provide me with some protection, it may not disable the car, but it would go off if a key was turned in the ignition right?
Also I'm not sure where to find the dome light wire?

Thanks,
Owen

all you need to do is t-tap into the wire that is on the switch on the door jam that turns your dome light oni think its grean but all you have to do is pull one srew to take the switch out and see then go to the inside panal and look for that color then when ya open the door the alarm will go off.
