Question Does this sound like a fair deal?

I have been searching for a 240SX in my area for quite some time, but havent had much luck. Recently I saw a '90 model for sale for $1700 w/ 157,000 miles on it and another '90 model in better condition with 124,457 miles for $3000. Both are 5 spd. as well. I was going for the $1700 one but it has already been sold but the $3000 one is still on the lot. should I spring for the 3000 dollar one? Is that a good deal seeing that im going to do the SR swap eventually? Its in great condition, but 3000 is a bit much for me, However I cant find one for sale in my area (im in Alabama) but see countless ones on the road .

any help/opinions on this will be greatly appreciated.

well, if you surf the "classified" forums on some of the other 240SX forums on the internet, alot of people post their cars up for sale on there. sometimes, there might be a deal in your area. $3000 might be a LITTLE steep...but i'm not too sure what 124k miles is in KM, so i can't tell you for sure.

I thought about asking owner's of the various 240's I see, but I dont know any of them personally. I'd probably freak them out by chasing them down on the highway or leaving little notes saying "hey man i wanna buy your car! call me at..." attached to thier car while they buy groceries or whatever .

I have checked 240sx.org's classifieds and some of the other sites for one even available around here but came up with nothing. Maybe I'll get lucky soon.

Just do whatever works

You could always pull them out of their car GTA style

When buying a used car, I dont buy from the dealer.. EVER.

The most important think next to having a professional (or knowledgeable friend) eye-ball the car, is to make sure the car has had very few owners AND as many records as possible.

My car had 1 owner, it was a woman. She had the car maintained at the dealer, had ALL the service records since she purchased the car. I got a fully history of it through those service records, excellent thing to have. Plus, being a woman, she drove like a woman.. which means sure, little dents and stuff like that.. but mostly soft driving.

Now that the car has been in my hands, I have full records of what I've done and purchased.. but I've also taken apart everything and rebuilt it myself. So its been a great project car. If she ever saw the car today, I dont think she'd recognize it.
