stalls and throws p1309 code

Just got my car back from ford ,after they replaced maf sensor. On the way home while turning at a traffic light car stalls and cel comes on. Went to autozone and they pulled ap1309 dtc. Car drives fine except for minor misfire at low rpm, probably coil on the way out. Also a couple of weeks ago replaced valve cover gaskets. Thanks for any help 460$ for maf diagnostic. 2000 lincln ls v8

Re: stalls and throws p1309 code

Per the factory service manual, P1309 - Misfire Monitor Disable. Also per the manual, this code means, "When the misfire monitor is disabled, usually due to the input signal generated by the camshaft position (CMP) sensor, by sensing the passage of teeth from the CMP wheel." Possible causes are listed as:
  • Camshaft position sensor
  • Powertrain control module
  • ECT, MAF, and CKP sensors
The manual goes on to suggest "Verify the CMP is installed correctly and not out of synchronization."

Do you know if there were any diagnostic codes prior to the replacement of the MAF sensor? Since it was just replaced you might want to confirm it is properly connected and properly installed. If you have access to a scan tool with the datastream mode you could monitor the air flow according to the MAF to make sure it's working, then check the Engine Coolant Temperature. If that also looks normal, see how the engine timing numbers look and change when blipping the throttle.

A faulty Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP) could cause the stalling. A faulty Camshaft Position Sensor (CPS) would generally cause a random misfire code and longer than typical crank times trying to start the engine.

Re: stalls and throws p1309 code

Whats up Rod, thanks for reply.Dealer found no codes. A while ago i got a pending p1309,icleared it no cel until today. Tech did pid monitor test and found maf signals dropping removed and replaced, rechecked engine and road tested. I dont have a good scanner really only good for pulling codes, but i will bring back to ford in morning. I will post what they come up with.
