Repalced bad crank sensor twice in two days - Going for number 3!

99 Breeze was running fine. Stopped at the park with the kids for an hour. Went to start the car and it sounded like a rough start, but then nothing...It sounded like it was trying to start, but just wouldn't catch. THought fuel filter, but when Triple A got there, the driver said that it was getting gas, so probably no spark. I replaced the coil with no success.

Mechanic replaced crank sensor and it started right up. Drove approx 140 miles the next day and it was running good, then it started running rough then I stopped for coffee, came out and same problem as the day before.

Replaced crank sensor a 2nd time as I figured I just got a bad sensor, dove approx 50 miles and while driving 70 down the hiway, car just shut down.

Now it agin just won't start - tries but won't catch. I have a 3rd crank sensor to install tomorrow morning and would be some cash that it will "fix" the problem.

What could cause crank sensors to blow like that?

Thanks in advance.
Erik
