Another Venture 2003 wiper question

Hi all,

I've read a lot of problems with athe wipers in Venture and I'm having those issues as well. When they are in timed, they always stops at the top position.
Sounds familiar eh?

But how to fix them? I can't read technical english so well that I understand it too well, so I'm asking if some of you know the website with the pictures how to fix that problem, or is it possible to fix those at all...

Thanks for reading and thanks for your answers in advance,

Jarkko Haarala, Finland..

Re: Another Venture 2003 wiper question

I'm having this exact problem on my 2002. I just posted and hope to get some assistance and advice. I tried the WD40 but it doesn't fix the problem.

Re: Another Venture 2003 wiper question

mr.plane,

I'm not sure if I'm going to be of assistance as you say you don't understand technical English well.

However, I can type what is in the Haynes repair manual (available in most auto supply stores, not sure about Finland).

This manual also supplies pictures pertaining to different components as well.

Anyway, this is what the book says about the wipers not 'parking'.

There are electrical tests to perform to check what is good and what is not too.

If the wipers fail to park, disconnect the multi-function switch electrical connector (fixed to the upper section of the firewall in front of the drivers knees. (The wires come out of the steering column cover)

If the wipers now park, replace the multi-function switch (the turn signal/cruise control/wiper switch, ect), mounted on the steering column.

IF the wipers still don't park, check the wiring form the wiper motor to the switch for a short circuit.

If the circuits are good, replace the wiper motor.

One other thing to check before spending money is to check the gap between the V-notch in the crank arm and the tab. The screws holding the crank arm to the wiper motor shaft MAY have come loose.

When installing the crank arm on the wiper motor shaft, the gap MUST be 5/32 to 5/16 inch (4 to 8 mm). If the proper gap isn't there, the wiper motor will not reverse and 'park' the wipers.

For what it's worth, the Haynes repair manual you can use is issue #38036 or (if they made one) one a couple years newer. This book I have goes to 2001.

I doubt any changes were made until they quit making these vans.

Re: Another Venture 2003 wiper question

Alot of GM wiper motors get bad solder connections on the pins for the external connector. IDK about the Venture motor, but I have resoldered the pins on ALOT of others that were malfunctioning similar to that and had good luck. Try the above diagnostics and maybe remove the cover to the electronics if possible and the motor appears to be at fault, better yet try wiggling the wiring harness and if it starts/ stops you know what is wrong.

Re: Another Venture 2003 wiper question

Roadrunner, Lesterl thank you for you answers. I don't get the Finnish Haynes book but I will try your suggestions. I have a book about Chrysler Voyager, will see if theres any similarities, and ofcourse, google translate is my other tool

Will let you know if its working after I try all possibilities. I also asked this problem from the Finnish dealer and he said that the wiper motor is the last thing you need to replace, it sounded for him that the problem is electrical but we'll see.

Thanks again for your answers

Jarkko
