2000 Chevy Express Cargo Van

Hello Everyone i'm new to this so please be patient. my van started running rough last week so i took the doghouse off & found that two of the plug wires had grounded themselfs out on the inside of the doghouse so i put new plugwires, cap, rotor button & plugs & it ran smooth as silk on test drive but the next day on the way home from work it started to run rough when i came to a stop sign but it has great acceleratation & dont miss when i was driving so i checked detanation & sometimes it was blue & sometimes it was white so i replaced the coil & the ignition module & all the time that this was going on it never spit out a code until yesterday it said 2 codes p1404 aux emission control twice & today it said p0404 egr
flow CKI range/performance. i have a OBDautoscanner made byactron so i did a i/m monitors check on it & the following come back as not ready
catalyst,evap system,o2 sensor,Ho2 sensor & egr sys. HELP??
i almost forgot i checked the fuel pump & i have 62 at idle & the engine size is 5,0 305 cu.in.

Re: 2000 Chevy Express Cargo Van

Will your scanner read out actual and desired EGR valve position?

Code 404 and 1404 are codes for EGR stuck in open position or actual pintle position does not match desired position.

Clear codes and see if codes return.
Also check for carbon ball stuck under EGR valve plunger.

On monitors not ready after code clear it takes a certain drive cycle for them to reset.

Let us know how it goes.

Re: 2000 Chevy Express Cargo Van

I took off the EGR & it seemed to be stuck in the open position ( meaning that the plunger was down against the baseplate) so i pushed it in & it free up but i took the egr valve & hit it easily against my hand & it stuck down again. is there a way to clean it? it has carbon build-up. & how do i clean it?

If plunger was down sealing the hole it was in closed position.

Not good to be pushing on a electronic EGR valve.

Carb cleaner will help cur carbon off.

Put it back on and clear code and drive and see what it does and if it reset codes post back.

WILL YOU SCANNER READ OUT EGR VALVE POSITION?
