Im new and have some questions

I am getting ready to build my Tamiya R32 GTR Skyline and I have some questions. On my last model (Honda NSX) I put 3 coats of primer on and then one week later I put 4 coats of paint on. The primer dried very rough and I had to sand it down quite a bit to get it smooth, is this normal? I sanded until I couldnt sand anymore and then added the paint. It too went on very rough and after hours of polishing the polish had worked its way between the rough patches on the paint and all you could see was patches of white all over the body. What should I have done in this situation? My next question is, do I primer ALL the parts before painting them? If so how many coats do I apply? I will be using Tamiya spray cans for my model. Thanks for any help.

I can help you a little...first make sure you have a almost mirror finish coat of paint on the car before it drys...cuz if it is lumpy when it is still wet it will be lumpy when it is dry, i thinkthe bumpyness u are talking about is orangepeel that should jus sand rite off but u mite've had too much, in that case u jus have to respray the model

It's important to let the paint layers fully cure before rubbing down. I generally use automotive sprays, but in my experience, Tamiya sprays are a little more 'delicate'. Standard curing time is around 1 week. It does seem long, but is worth the wait when you get a lovely mirror paint finish.

Tamiya Primer and Paint. I have had the worst experiences with Testors Primer but I still get a very rough surface when I use Tamiya Primer.
