I have a '96 Isuzu Oasis (Odyssey twin). The SRS light stays on and the dealer wants over $800 to check it out. Does anyone have an experience like this? How can I get the light turned off?

If your goal is to turn off the light then find the fuse and take it out. If your goal is to fix the SRS then it does run big bucks to replace those airbag systems.

800 dollars sound kind of far fetched, i work at a dealorship and we only charge 1 hour for diagnostic which is 80 bucks. the lite won,t go out until you fix the problem everytime you start the car the srs goes through a system check and if it detects a fault within the first 6 second the lite will stay on.

SRS Light - After dead battery
I suffered from the affects of the master light switch and the drain of my battery. After jump starting the car, the SRS light is on.
Is there a way to reset the light [01 Odyssey]? |

Re: SRS light
As far as I know you will need a specific diagnostic computer to find the fault and reset the light. You can't touch the battery cables together or pull a fuse. What's the specific fault that will cost $800 to repair? SRS control unit? Is your battery new or old? Sometimes a weak battery can trip a fault of the control unit...when all that needs to happen is to recharge or replace the battery. More info please.

Re: SRS light
The radio code means that you need to enter your anti-theft code. If you don't have the 5 digit code, you'll need to get the radio serial number and go to Honda to retrieve the code. They may require proof of ownership of your vehicle, but the dealer should do it for free.
During dealer prep, the dealer is supposed to stick a white sticker with the radio S/N somewhere on the inside of your glove compartment. There should also be a credit card size piece of paper with the code and radio S/N on it. On the SRS, this seems to be common for Hondas. There is a reset procedure, but the manual says you have to use a certain shorting loop. Don't know if the loop has a diode or a resistor in it, but it warns against shorting the two terminals out with a wire. If you type in "Honda SRS reset light" into Google, you can find discussions about it....good luck, Glen |

You can do it yourself following instructions below: http://autorepair.about.com/library/faqs/bl182e.htm all hondas have that problem. I did it myself in 95 oddyssey. who ever told you 800$ is bandit, thief and
