Turbo mods
Hello, I just bought a 98 GST with an upgraded turbo, intercooler, BOV, and piping. the engine on it was ruined due to lack of lubrication but I already got a reputable mechanic to completely rebuild it and fix it. but I would like to know what else should I be checking out for or replacing for the upgrades it already has. the car was sold to me with the whole powertrain apart. so please let me know on things i should get, if I need to change anything in the engine should I mess with the compression if I do, how? and also anything that I might need before i put the engine back together, and also if i need any upgrades on fuel and oil? thanks

It all really depends on how much you want to spend and your goals. If you have to do a rebuild, go for good rods, pistons, and such and build a beast. But it costs money and takes time. And the more powerful the car is, the more time you have to put into it just taking care of it. So, what are your goals?

I really dont want to spend much and turn it into a beast. I pretty much just wanna get the stuff that I need so the big turbo it has woun't ruin my engine. it already has a better BOV but I havent checked on the fuel management. I dont even know if it has one. but what do you think would be the best things to put on so my engine woun't get ruined?

Eliminate the balance shafts for sure.

What turbo is on it? About the only thing you need to make sure of is that the car has enough fuel. Depending on which turbo you have on there determines what kind of fuel upgrades you will need. Plan on upgrading injectors and also getting some kind of fuel controlller. If you dont plan on pushing tons of power a stock rebuild will be fine for you
