power steering fluid

Just got an Accord. Somebody told me Honda uses a special power steering fluid. Is that true or will the usual kind like Prestone work as well.

Re: power steering fluid

You don't say what year Honda you have, but it is true. Any power steering fluid but Honda supplied fluid will eat the seals in the pump and the actutator. You must use Honda fluid.

Re: power steering fluid

Thanks for the answer. It's a 2007 sedan, 4 cylinder. My first Honda but won't be the last, it's really nice to drive.
