Unhappy got the head on, but now its smoking from under the valve cover......HELP ME

hey guys, i got the head on the 93 accord lx , got all the timing good and everything, but smoke comes out from under the valve cover, anyone got an idea as to what could cause this? everything is tourqued down to spec.....whats the deal? it also seems like it wants to die once i come to a stop and put my foot on the clutch, although, once it is going, it runs 100% better than it did before the head gasket went, with more power, and a smoother starting idle....anyone got an answer?

Only thing I can think of are the valve seals, thats something I can imagine would let in smoke from the combustion chamber, however with oil in the car I would think the oil would suffocate that.

i dont know if you have it hooked up or not but the "vent" from the valve cover should be connected to the intake pipe. This is called crankcase ventilation and will help alleviate some of that pressure.

i dunno, thats a new one audi.
i know this sounds funny but are you sure it's coming out from under the cover and not say.....oily finger prints and hand marks burning off?!?!?!

you shouldn't have smoke coming out though. if a normal car were running and you pulled off the oil cap smoke wouldn't pour out...know what i mean?!?!?

not second guessing you but, i had a shop once over torque my head gasket. i had them replace it and they over torqued again.

so if the head is on too tight, that could cause this?

Actually, its just the valve cover vent. the crankcase vent is the PCV valve.. (positive crankcase ventilation).. it vents the crankcase into one of the intake runners.

but not like smoke pouring out. there shouldn't be so much smoke it's leaking out the valve cover

i dunno audi. i think maybe you some how managed to get in oil where there shouldn't be. pull your spark plugs and see if any of them have oil on it.
