ZEX Nitrous on F22B??? Good idea??
Wass up all...
Of course when you ask the technicians at ZEX they say its the best damn thing since sliced bread because they want to sell you their merchandise, so I figured coming here would get me a more realistic answer. So here's the story... Yes I own a 96 Accord with the F22B (vtec) motor in it. Possibly doing a swap next year with the H22a JDM motor BUT........in the meantime, I was thinking about getting the Zex kit for my car, but don't want to blow the damn thing up quite yet!?!? Soooo wonder what you guys would do if you were me.. don't really have much done to the engine but it's not stock I guess.. All new belts Underdrive lightweight Crank pulley OBX Adjustable Cam gear +3 Stainless 4-2-1 DC Headers Hi-Flow Catalylic Converter New pipes back from cat to Sports muffler from HP Racing Cold Air intake Nology Wires Nology Coil Amplifier NGK Iridium Spark Plugs Low temperture thermostat 95 VTEC ECU with Mugen spec chip - VTEC @ 2500 - REV 8500 - No governer - No speed limitor - More fuel curve (put the harness for next year, to use) As far as just under the hood goes, that's it for now. Yeah, the car has 120k miles on it, but I'm the original owner and I just started this little project about 2 months ago. I have ALWAYS babied that thing and the car is in excellent running condition. The car runs pretty good now, but when it's all done and out of the body shop... I don't want a worry about a damn Kia beating me.... know what I'm saying!?! Seriously though... just wondering about your opinions on putting a ZEX kit on if you were me and of course only running the 55shot. (which I think is their lowest?) I am really concentrating my money on restoring the car back to original condition like the leather, carpet, dash, and it's getting painted now. So, guess I'm looking for the biggest bang for my buck for time being... let me know....

depending on the size of the shot, you might want to think about having the rods balanced and shotpeened, and maby break in some new piston rings first

I personally think you'll be good to go. As long as your engine is in good working order, you shouldn't have any problems.

Hmmm... ok so with the 55shot you'll think I'll be ok if I don't run it that often? What else could I do to prevent serious damage to the engine keeping in mind that I will probably only have it for one more year? Should I just be conservative with it and take care of the engine as usual??

sounds good to me, if you want to go any higher of a shot make sure your gettin enough fuel

Oh yeah, and by the way... I tried just looking on the internet for the difference between a wet kit and a dry kit? Nobody really seems to give a clear definition??? Zex especially does not express the advantages and disadvantages of either kit? What IS the difference and what would be better for me?...
Man, I'm a pain in the A#@ Thanks again as always....

dry just shoot N20 and use the fuel injectors to add the extra fuel. wet shoot fuel and N20. IMO wet are better

Ok........... how about this?? What if I got a fuel pressure regulator, a Air/Fuel Ratio gauge, and a Nitrous Pressure gauge (for convienence) would I be good to go or would you still recommend an additional fuel pump? Would my stock one be sufficient? and would it run dependable if I didn't go higher then a 65 shot?? Let me know........

I read an article in HCI that said if ypou up the pressure you actually cut the fuel flow of the pump, because now you are using more fuel per hour, and the pump cant keep up with the demand so you get less flow? sounds arguable oin my head, but Im guessing they know more than me.
and about injectors, that same article said the stock 240cc injectors (in most b series) are fine unless you go past like 200 HP. and I dont know what your injectors are, but 145hp plus 55 is 200, so unless your engine has bigger injectors, Id go with some 310's. someone else will probably know what you got.
