Hi all (again)
I've given the paint for my Revell Viper GTS some thought. (blue with white lines or black with silver lines) I've decided to go for black with silver and now I'm not really sure which paints to use. I was thinking of using TS-29 Semi Gloss Black with TS-17 Aluminium Silver. I also found TS-30 Silver Leaf and I'm not really sure what the difference is, any help would be really appreciated. :sun: Another question is about the clear coat; I haven't made alot of models yet, none with clear coat actually, and I was thinking of making the Viper my first one. I can use TS-13 Clear for this, right?? Thanks in advance, Marcel |

If you don't clear coat use TS 14 Gloss Black, TS 29 is Semi Gloss. Silver Leaf is a finer ground pigment paint that looks like aluminum, TS 17 Gloss Aluminum should have been named Metallic Silver in my opinion, it is definitely metallic. Both will turn sort of gray when clear coated unless you use an acrylic type clear. Experiment to see which one you like best.

I'd say TS-30 base with TS-14 over it.

Thanks for the reply guys. I'll stay away from the clear coat again with the Gloss Black being shiny enough I think.
I think I'll go for the TS-30 base with TS-14 over that. Thanks again Marcel |

Do light gunmetal for the lines, I think that would look alot better with black

By the way, how´s the kit in general? Engine, aligment etc?

I've only just started today actually, but so far it looks quite nice. Alot of chrome parts and nice detail on the parts. I've just started on the engine but I've had a change of heart about the color; I'm in heavy doubt what to do now regarding blue/white or black/silver.
Blue/white would be easier with the white easily done with decals. Main concern about the black/silver is the masking after the silver coat because I haven't done that before. The masking itself shouldn't be the problem, but I'm not sure about the result of it. Wont there be a difference in thickness of paint from the silver to the black?? (with the black being higher) Hope you know what I mean...Marcel |
