2006 Montana V6 power steering power loss in drive mode

Friends,
My 2006 Pontiac Montana power steering looses power when driving. The steering wheel becomes very hard and it is scary to drive. I may run into accident. It goes back to normal after few minutes.
I do not see any leaks. Please help...what can be wrong? Did any one had same problems?

Thanks.

Did you check the fluid level? You may not have enough PS fluid and the pump may be cavitating (injesting air).

The only other option I can think of is the belt is slipping. Make sure your serpentine belt is in good condition and tight.
