you should be fine with regular gas. If you ever bump up your compression make sure you use the good stuff though.

the manual says "above 86".. i have a 90 GS with an intake (thats it) and if i use anything but 91 octane chevron gas i get 25 mpg. if i use 87 octane chevron ill get 25 mpg, if i use 89 octane i might get 26. if i use any brand of gas other than chevron and any octane other than 91 it accelerates slower and gets real bad mileage... with 91 octane chevron i get 31-32 MPG... i regularly use fuel injector cleaner too (every other tank)

you guys are trippin. If you drive a stock (by stock I mean no internal mods) GS (which I assume has a b18a/b) then put 87 in it and be done with it ... I cant believe how many people put 91 in their civic dx's and always tell me about how much better it is. I have a SOHC ZC and I STILL use 87 and it does me just fine.

thats because the cheap 87 octane scummed up your injectors so badly that when you put 91 octane in it doesnt make a difference... try putting in some fuel injector cleaner along with a full tank of 91 and if you dont notice a difference theres either a problem with your car or you have very low perception capabilities

i think that 91 really does help... i usually get 350 miles to a tank with 91 octane chevron, and 300 on 87.. did this with my last integra too.. and ill drop to 25-27 mpg even on chevron 91 octane gas if i dont use fuel injector cleaner every other or every third tank...

I have a clear fuel filter on my truck, and you should see the difference between 87 and 89! 87 has a whole bunch of crap floating in it, 89 is almost totally clear. No big difference between 89 and 93 though.
For the B18A/B the lower octane the better. Octane is the resistance to compression, the B18A has low compression therefore does not need higher octane. Lower octane has more BTU's so it actually makes more power, you only need higher octane because of higher compression to resist against detonation. But get 89 though cuz of the floating stuff in 87. You guys all think higher octane gives you more power? It's been dyno proven already that it doesn't. Of course, with higher octane you can turn the advance up some and get more power, so thats what I think newer cars do - they have computers that turn advance up as much as possible without letting it knock/ping, so when you put in higher octane it turns up the advance. But if you could leave the advance set in one spot, lower octane makes more power. And also, mileage wise - it's not worth how much it costs you get a couple more miles per gallon on high test. |

I had a 73 MGBGT that also had clear fuel filters ... 3 of them in fact. The gas didnt have floating shit in it .. there was dirt in the gas tank! Which is the case on many older cars

Cause its british.. haha... I worked on a fuel dock a few summers back, and i've learned that any brand you can think of all comes from one refinery. Thus thinking a certain brand is better is kinda redundant. The particular brand we worked under was 76/Unical, but we'd regularly get trucks from GP, Chevron, Arco etc. etc.. Only time I get nervous of the brand of gas is when im in the middle of no where and its Joe And Franks Last Stop gas station or some random shit... then I wonder if I'm really getting gas or just mixture Gatorade and Piss.
