stupid question but saw this car and got me thinkin!

u kno thoes gas/electric cars that car out a while back, like the first one called the insight? well if ya kno wat im talkin bout, you think it would be possible to turn that into hella nice sound car? if u could get into the battery that it uses to go instead of using gas, that would be like so much power, imagine wat kinda wattage you could push in that. well at least considering the fact it wouldnt fall apart first

just a nit pick, but the first hybrd to market was actually the toyota prius. concerning the batteries, there is a big battle going on right now about if/when carmakers will switch to bigger 42 volt batteries to run all of the new tech gadgets and such. if so, that means much power for the systems...

i don't think i'll ever embrace hybird cars. when you can get 0-60's out of them in the sub 10 second range, call me.

Actually Paonessa, an electric car *could* theoretically be faster 0-60 then a gas car. The reason I say that is an electic motor instantly has all its torque available where with an internal combustion engine, the torque is only in ranges.

Here is a link to an electric sports car that is pretty fast.
http://www.acpropulsion.com/tzero_pages/tzero_home.htm

It is pretty fugly, but these numbers aren't bad.
0 to 60 mph 4.07 sec
1/4 mile 13.24 sec at 90 mph

It is by no means a production vehicle but electric vehicles do have promise.

The Hybrid-Electric Vehicle Team at Virginia Tech has a Neon that had so much torque (600ft-lbs) that they added sticky tires to it. Now with enough traction, it snapped the stock driveshafts like twigs. They had to get beefed up ones, probably even custom made. It'll do a zero to 60 pretty damn fast, and you barely hear the thing. Its hydrogen powered!

Acura has a prototype gas/electric NSX that has something like 400hp. Good looking too.

dodge had a hybrid concept a year or two ago that was production worthy which had a s/c v6 and an electric motor that hit 60 in under 7 seconds...and the Lexus RX330 Hybrid that's coming out is supposed to be pretty quick too
