94 Lincoln Continental dash cluster died

I was recently driving my continental when the digital dash completely died. The heater and turn signals also died. Along with this a strong burning electrical smell followed. This doesn't sound good. Before this happened dash had been doing what these lincolns like to do with low oil pressure and check dcl. Anyone that can help it would be appreciated.:banghea d:

Re: 94 Lincoln Continental dash cluster died

Your going to have to pull the cluster and check it's condition. One problem that this vintage is having is oxidized contacts on the connectors.

Proper connection can be restored by CAREFULLY cleaning the connectors with pencil eraser and maybe cleaning with 100% alcohol if you're a smoker.

It's best to do the cleaning slowly, carefully, and throughly rather than having to do it all over again too soon.

The cluster may be fried.. but it's cheaper to check the connectors first.
