Cheapest to make 2001 Eclipse RS faster?
I am in the process of fixing up my 2001 RS Eclipse. I am just working on the superficial stuff right now; front bumper needs paint, lowing springs, etc. However, i want to make this thing faster, much faster. I was thinking about trying to put a turbo in it, but that seems pretty expensive. What is the cheapest way to give my car some extra power? (i already installed a cold air intake)
I don't pretend to know a lot about vehicles, so any help and/or info on the subject would be awesome. Thanks. |

A good nitrous kit would be a cheaper way to go faster

Sell it and get something worth upgrading.

Re: Cheapest to make 2001 Eclipse RS faster?
![]() Fact of the matter the 3rd gens are not easy to mod and what mods you can get really dont give you that much of a gain. If you want a cheap and easy option though the nitrous kit would be your best option although you probably wouldnt wanna run more than a 50 to 75 shot tops and your definitely going to wanna upgrade your plugs as well.

Re: Cheapest to make 2001 Eclipse RS faster?
Electric superchargers on a 12v system won't work. The math doesn't support the output over the input. You would need something like a 40V+ system to make it even begin to work.

Guess autox, drag, formula ford aren't sports either, quit trying to act like you know anything.
Just the fact that you even think an electric supercharger would work proves you know jack shit. |

Re: Cheapest to make 2001 Eclipse RS faster?
save up your money and do it the right way. witch if you dont know much about cars means you shouldnt do this at home. but go buy forged internals compleatly re-build the motor from the ground up and put an evo 8 head on it run a turbo and nos, and make sure you put some attention to your tranny as well.

Re: Cheapest to make 2001 Eclipse RS faster?
What about just a cold air intake? It makes it sound fast at least

Re: Cheapest to make 2001 Eclipse RS faster?
He already stated he had a cold air intake, come on now ! I would suggest new performance spark plugs and wires, not gonna make it fast, but if your working on fixing it up it's always a good start to have all your cylinders working full potential.

Oh yeah and on that note, have you ever heard of Iridium Plugs? They might serve you well. |
