92 Riviera: Plugs not firing, when I do get started it dies within minutes.
I Have a 92 Buick Riviera. It has been parked for a couple of years. It was running well when it was parked. When I first started it, it needed to be charged up, and I drove it for probably under an hour total, then went in to fuel it up. I filled it with a premium non ethonal fuel, but when I went to start it at the station it took several tries, then started. I drove it a couple a few blocks and it died and would not start again. It is turning over but not starting. My first thought was fuel filter. I replaced that, then jumped the battery, it started...run fine for a few blocks and died again, so I replaced the fuel pump, the screen and flushed the tank, and tried again. Rejumped the battery..it went around the block 3 times and died again. If I let it set for awhile it will restart, but then again dies. It seems to help if I jump the battery, but then it is only a few minutes before it dies. My son looked at it and said that it doesn't look like the plugs are firing, so changed all of the plugs with high quality new ones. Any suggestions:

Welcome to AF, if you have no spark this is usually the crank sensor or the ign module, the module can be tested ,although not 100% accurate, at most big parts stores.

From your description, it seems that you have to "jump start" the car too often! Have the battery load tested, & alternator output tested, to eliminate those as a possibility.

Re: 92 Riviera: Plugs not firing, when I do get started it dies within minutes.
My son just took the battery and alternator down to NAPA and had it tested. They are both good, so it looks like I had better try to have someone tow me back down town to someplace that can run a diagnostic on those sensors and modules. Thanks for the help!
