Oil Pan Gasket

I'm wondering what it takes to change an oil pan gasket.
A mechanic told me I have lift the motor.
Do I? Whats involved?

yes, either the engine needs to be lifted, or the passenger side subframe lowered to change your oil pan gasket. The front lip near the timing cover tucks up over the sub-frame, so you can't get to the bolts without gaining clearance.

It's gasket with a g, casket is entirely different.

Issue corrected.

For the work involved $300 is not bad in repair cost. But that depends if it is US or Canadian dollars.

I Agree, 300 is a fair price.

Just make sure it is not coming from farther up and dripping down on the oil pan. Like the valve covers, and lower intake valley gasket seals are common.

I was quoted between $500.00 and $600.00, but don't tell your Mechanic.. lol...
$300.00 is excellent..

No problem Wylie. I only fixed the thread title but I see you edited your post.

BTW - While we are on the subject of caskets I think my casket is free since I'm a Veteran. Also, I get a free plot to include headstone in a U.S. National Cemetery. Hopefully that won't be anytime soon.

I guess the earth will reclaim us sooner or later so thats probably not a bad idea.

However, I see one problem with that Wylie based on where you live. The coffee can will probably rust out.

But I guess the plastic type will do providing it is not biodegradable.
