Sars death rate might be worse than initially thought

the death rate published by the WHO has increased to 5.6% from 4% globablly but some areas of the world have a 10% fatality rate from the Syndrom which is affecting thousands across the globe. Some doctors believe that the Syndrome might prove to be even more deadlier than that. Its not know why the Syndrome spares some and takes the lives of others doctors can offer no explaination and are baffled.

Anyone think that Toronto's attempts to declare their city safe whilst the WHO declares it a non-go area futile?

I think SARS is going to spread further and faster

SARS first broke out nearly 2 full months ago, if it were going to spread far and fast it would already have done so by now. Personally I think the fatality rate will go down in the coming months as both diagnosis and treatment methods improve, and that the world at large still has more to fear from the flu than this.

Ebola is a disease that would not be able to be spread like SARS is. Its way to deadly. It would kill the carriers before they would have a chance to spread the disease to extensively. (its nearly as communacative as the movie Outbreak used it as) Nasty nasty bug though.

or so you wish... it takes something like 6-13 days for someone infected to become symptomatic, then you linger for a few weeks. Outbreak way outplayed the disease, and that would have been a variation on Ebola Ziare, which is the 90%+ fatality rate, however, the less sever ebola strains, like Sudan, only have 60% fatality.

have you guys read the book, "The Hot Zone"? phewww....thank God SARS doesn't resemble anything like Ebola.

yup, that's a great book! it was required reading for a class i took 2 semesters ago
