Oh, wow...I'd given this thread up for dead LONG ago.
If I remember correctly this was the engine thrown into top of the line Daytonas in the late 80s, early 90s. It's a 2.2L Intercooled Turbocharged engine, 224 Horse, If I remember correctly. If I remember correctly.

The engine in the Lancer ES turbo and Lebaron GTC turbo is a single Turbo engine, non intercooled engine, called teh 2.2 L Turbo II
The engine I'm looking for is a souped up version of it, featuring an intercooler, larger turbo and a few more minor adjustments. More information can be found here. I've already got a Turbo II...it's in the 86 Lancer thats sitting out at dads as I type. I'm looking for something with a little more UMF...and considering that the Turbo III has 2 more horsepower than my Stealth (224 as opposed to 222) I figure...HEY. What makes the deal sweeter is that they're the same block, only sllightly different heads, and BOOM, they're the same size, so the switch out should be particularily easy. EDIT::: After searching that page, I found this. [b]1991The Turbo III is put into production and used in the Spirit R/T and Daytona R/T, with 225 horsepower. A high torque 2.5 Turbo is used with automatics.[b] Spirit or Daytona, R/T Models after 1991

Some clarification on the TII/TIII debate...
The TII engine is a Single Overhead Cam (SOHC) with Forged crank, rods, and is intercooled, among other differences between that and the TI engines. A TIII engine on the other hand is completely different. They are not the same blocks and the TIII is a DOHC engine. The turbos are different, as are the intercooler, the wiring, computer, ect... The cars that they came in are the Daytona R/T's from 92-93 as well as Spirt R/T's from 91-92. They are rare with lotus heads. Expect to pay about $2000 for a perfect running example (just for the engine). |
