96 intrepid cv shaft removel problems

My cv shaft is shot, i bought another one and following the instructions in my manual. I am no beginner, been working on cars most my life. But when it says carefully pry cv shaft off transsmission. This thing will not come off. i have used every prybar i have, i have a porta power i tried too. Is there a trick to getting this shaft to let go. ? should i soak it in oil or will this not help because of the retaining clip ? this car has alot of miles but runs great. 250,000 or so. any help will help thanks.

well i got the cv shaft off, in about 4 pieces. had to cut if off with my cutting wheel.. did manage to only put a little cut in the trans shaft. but it wasnt bad and everything went back togather real nice. this pry it off thing they said to do doesnt work to well, this was a bear to get off.

On the sad side i forgot to put the retaining clip back on the shaft and lucky i only went around the block on a test drive. i had to order a new retaining clip from dealership cause the old one was broke. good luck if you ever have to do this.
