Extreme heat toll on car?
Hi,
I'm new to this forum. I am debating with myself if I should buy a used car (max 2 years old) or new car. I am living in Texas and it's VERY hot here during summer. My question: Does anybody have any experience on whether the extreme heat takes a big toll on a car with regards to things like rubber or plastic parts on the vehicle or just general longevity? Not immediately of course but I'm worried about 3 or 5 years down the road? Is this something I should considering when deciding to buy new or used? Thanks! |

Re: Extreme heat toll on car?
You can save big bucks by getting a car a few years old with only 20-30k on it. A lot of dealers will still honor the factory warr. This being said, most people take care of a car they have only had for a few years. If the car was abused, I'm not sure it would make much of a difference if it was driven in the southwest or in the north.

But, anything made in the last 10 years will have been tested and built to survive in much harsher climates than Texas. As long as you something that has been looked after and serviced properly you won't have any problems from the heat.
