2011 Grand Cherokee won’t start

So the car won’t start by itself but will start on a jump, battery is good, lights are bright. When I took it for a spin after jumping it, it ran perfectly as before(it’s getting enough fuel I think). When I turn the key it does a turn then stops. Any ideas? It’s a 2011 overland with the hemi.

Did you put a voltmeter on the battery when cranking?

I did not yet, your saying I should check to make sure the battery is pushing power when I try to crank it?

Yes. Without a voltage check you're just guessing. Or take the battery to any parts store for a load test. How old is the battery?

Yup, load test the battery. Sounds like it's on its way out.

While you're at the parts store, have them check alternator output as well.

So I had the battery tested, results came back good. 12 volts. I got a multimeter tested it and got 12 volt, then while I try to crank it the voltage drop to about 10.5, is that normal? Also a more detailed description on what the car is doing, basically when I turn the key I hear the engine crank once and then it quits, it’s not a consistent turn, just once and off(note it’s a push to start)

Did they do an actual load test or just check battery voltage? 12v static is low. I would check all cables. Clean and tight. At the starter also. Measure voltage at the starter. You may have a voltage drop at the starter.

How do you check starter voltage?

Numerous YouTube videos. You never said how old is the battery?

The battery is new, I did the starter circuit test and got around 3 volt’s resistance on all three power, s terminal, and ground. What’s the next step?

Double check all cable connections. Clean and tight. Check all grounds.

I check the the battery connections didn’t see any signs of corrosion, went over everything with a wire brush just to be sure, connections are tight. I checked the starter by touching one end of my multimeter to the ,power circuit and positive battery post, s terminal to positive, ground to negative, all on dcv.

Confusing. 3v resistance? Do you have 12v getting to the starter via battery positive cable?

I’ve decided to go to my mechanic and have him take a look at it, I’ll make sure to come back to this thread and tell you what he finds. That being said I really appreciate your help I’ve definitely learned a few things

Ok. I wondering if your starter is bad?
