Sweet!! Looks like you had an awesome trip man
![]() I don't know if your impression was like mine, but up close last year at the NYC Auto Show, the S7 was by looks, the nicest-looking car I have ever seen. IMO, the press shots do not do it justice - you must see this car in preson to truly appreciate how amazing-looking it is. |

the S7 is MUCH nicer in person. The press pics made it look cheap and kinda crappy. But in person it is amazing and alot longer than it looks in magazines.
As for the nicest car in the show..i think the S7 was in the top 5..i liked the ENZO also and the Chrysler Crossfire caught my eye too..

What were you thoughts on the Enzo. I think its a car that has to be seen in person to be appreciated. I've seen an S7 before and wasn't impressed, I'd never spend that money for that car.

Yellow- the Enzo definatly has to be seen in person to be appreciated. All the pictures make it look great. But some people base opinions on what it looks like in pictures. But standing next to it (and actually touching it
) makes it look that much more better. The carbon fibre is amazing. and the overall car is just great. In person you are immediatly attracted to it..i stayed @ the ferrari stand for 10 mins just looking at it..then i had to tkae pics which was anouther 10

has all the ones i took @ the show... sean..thats EXACTLY what they did. if you didnt slam the gas the second that the light turned green theyd lean on the horn. and if you were in wrong lane and merged someone 5 cars behind you would honk. it was fun tho. We were trying to get into this parking "garage" (which was actually a fenced in place with hydrolic lifts to fit more cars in it) and we were in the middle of the road and couldnt move and there were people swearing and getting pissed off..it was funny

WOW. I am very curious to see an Enzo now (and I am sure that I will at the Auto Show). From the pictures I have seen, I am not crazy about much of the way the car looks (I think that the overall silhouette is very sleek and exotic, but I think that the tail looks a lot like a Pagani Zhonda, and I think the nose looks like the TRD Celica that was released a couple years ago - both of which are nice cars, but I am not crazy about either of these features, and IMO a super-exotic like the Ferrari Enzo should not have features so easily related to another car (and a much cheaper car with respect to the nose). I dunno, I'll see how it looks in person.
Just for comparison, seeing a Ferrari 360 Modena was not a surprise - it looked just like it did in pictures (though don't get me wrong VERY VERY NICE!! :sun: ). |

I'm digging up this thread to add some insights of my own about what I saw and felt at the NY Auto Show (I've also added some thoughts here).
Sat in a lot of SUVs this year, and was generally disappointed (very disappointed) with their rear seat accomodations (it was rare this year to find any car with front buckets that weren't nice.. finding which front seats I truly enjoyed sitting in was a matter of splitting hairs). The best rears I sat in were the Nissan Murano, Porsche Cayenne, and way out in front was the VW Toureg. They did a spectacular job with the rear seats. Let's hope that starts a precedent for improving rear seats in SUVs (much as I still don't like them, it seems that they are destined to stay in this US car market). The Honda Element, while I didn't like the rear seats at all, was an amazing example of space utilized. I don't think that anything else came close in terms of the amount of interior room, particularly for the front passengers. Took a long look at the G class Mercedes, and I'm sorry if some of you are fans.. but I just don't get the appeal. When it comes to front and rear seat comfort, it seems to me that Toyota really has that dialed in to near perfection on its biggest sedans. Both the Avalon and LS 430 had rear seats that were absolutely amazing. Both of those I made return trips to jsut to refresh my memory on how comfy they were. This was particularly true in the rears of the LS 430, with its optional adjusting seat cushions with built-in massagers. Had some interesting engine observations. Ford is building a new turbodiesel V8 with the turbo above the engine, positioned between the cylinder heads! Not sure why they did that, but a very interesting design. They also are utiliizing dual pulse injector cycles to aid in combustion, sending a small amount of fuel as the piston ascends, and then a larger shot of fuel right hear TDC. Got a look at a cutaway model of the new Hemi engine.. and the combustion chambers looks barely elliptical at all! I know that the original Hemi engines had a more distinguishable hemispherical shape, but I still expected the new ones to have a more clearcut shape. Oh well. I was surprised at how tiny the throttle body the Neon SRT-4 is using. Being used to the 60-ish mm throttle bodies that you see on B series Hondas, I think the TB on the Neon was only about 40 mm across.. or maybe even less!! I was amazed at the complexity of the induction system of the RX-8 renesis engine. It utilizes a complex series of intake manifold plenums (and two, differing-sized throttle bodies!) to stage four different phases of induction. I guess without the aid of a turbo, you have to get really creative to help aid in breathing. It was very impressive, and I would really like to drive one to see if you can actually feel/hear the different phases of induction. I just wish that Mazda could get some sort of technology like this into their small I4s to get some engine power for the Protégé (which is still a great car, inside and out, as it has been for years, but 170 bhp, with an intercooled turbo?? 'nuff said, I hope - they need to help this car and therefore this engine out). I also felt a lot of gear shifters while I was there. The champion, most smooth-shifting desirable shifter I felt?? IMO the Honda Civic Si just ran away with that one. My Integra (and all cars!! ) should be equipped with a "rally" shifter like this one. It has short, very smooth throws, and it does keep your hand so close to the wheel that it seems crazy to keep the gear shifter on the floor. I worked the clutch and imagined running through the gears.. such quick, smooth action. Love it.I'm going to maintain that I think the S7 is a better-looking car than the Enzo, though the Enzo is gorgeous. It is true, that particularly from the side, with the doors open, you can't appreciate the car's lines from just pictures. I think that's all I've got for now. It was a great show this year :sun: |
