Reading

Hey peeps,
I'm just curious to find out how many of you read for pleasure and what you read. So lemme know! (You don't need to mention AF, since that's a bit obvious).

As for me, I read A LOT!

Everday:

I read the paper. Mostly just the National/World News section with editorials and editorial cartoons.
I also try to read some theology or classics. I usually read them for 30 minutes or so right before I go to sleep. The current selection is Soren Kierkegaard's works and literary criticism on him. Up next is Bernard Shaw or maybe some Dostoyevsky.

Every month:

I read most of the following car magazines front to back:
(I read Evo, R&T, SS, RXS and JC, every month, the rest are optional)
  • EVO (I LOVE this magazine. I am convinced that this is the best car magazine money can buy. Spectacular pictures, great writeups, lots of exclusives - UK origin)
  • Road & Track (In my opinion the very best domestic car magazine, lots of exclusives and great pictures and text)
  • Sport Compact Car (This is one of my intermittent reads. I only read it when they do a large feature on Evolutions or other JDM goodness)
  • Super Street (The writing is pretty bad and they load it up with lots of half-naked women, but it's one of the best magazines for modified cars and ideas)
  • Japanese Car (Another UK magazine, another great read. Wonderous, large pictures abound)
  • RallyXS (another UK magazine, Bimonthly, but great coverage and pictures)
  • Modified Car (I pick this up on occasion, but only if it features cars I really like)
  • Motor Trend (I rarely read this, but a friend of mine gives them to me for free every now and then)

In addition, I read WIRED and Electronic Gaming Monthly (cover to cover).

On occasion I will also pick up:
  • Science (great magazine, but VERY technical - this is a very rare pickup for me)
  • Scientific American (good magazine, very intelligetn commentary and text)
  • Technology Review (great magazine on -duh- technology)

I read a lot. I've always loved reading, even as a kid.

My preference in books are like my tastes in movies – thrillers and mysteries. In saying that though I’ll pretty much read anything. I’ve just finished reading a great book called “My year of meat”, which was recommended to me. Anything on nutrition is also good.

As far as magazines go the only ones I read are fitness ones – Oxygen, Muscle & Fitness Hers and Energy.

Magazines that I read regularly:

- Arena from UK
- The Face from UK
- Golf Digest from US
- EVO (which I read off my mate's coffee table)
- Metro, North and South from NZ (I get them @ work)
- FHM, Ralph and BRASS (when I'm getting my hair cut - don't ask)

Magazines that I read occasionally now (ie don't buy regularly anymore)

- Motor, Wheels both for Australia (sadly no more from old columnists like George Ambrose or Paul Cockburn in Wheels)
- Autocar (from NZ)
- Skiing from US

Sites I read on the net everyday:
- NZ Herald
- Stuff.co.nz
- Sydney Morning Herald
- A/F (of course)

Sites I look at regularly:
- f1-live.com
- imdb.com
- nzgolf.co.nz (for my handicap index)

I read heaps. 1-2 hours every day. I mainly read Hot4s and occasionally Fast4s. Also every Drive section of the paper, the 10 minute Herald and a book. All concurrently. And my English texts. The only reason I'm not reading recreationally ATM is because of looming HSC exams.

I've read through everything in my house, and so I don't read so many books anymore. Previously I've read a lot of Dave Barry, Kurt Vonnegut, etc.

I read The Onion (www.theonion.com) every week.

I read the newspaper every day that I work (I have to, like it or not. )

I read Motor Trend, Automobile, and Road & Track. I hate Car & Driver. I read Glamour (free subscription).

Beyond that, I read AF, and on rare occaision will take a trip down to the local library.

Speaking of the local library, I don't know if everyone else's has this, but mine has a full set of Factory Service Manuals dating back to the late eighties! Very handy!!!

When I moved into my current Abode I had 3 VERY large boxs of books that each took 2 people to lift and move.
I had one box of cloths, and one small box of generaly stuff.

You could say I read a lot.

Over the last few decades I've accumulated quite the pile of books and magazines. I read two newspapers a day and my copy of Scientific American every month. I buy about two novels a month and will paruse the magazine rack for an hour or once a week or so.

I read! I'm always in a book. I read chapter books all the time when I'm not reading for school. I also read the paper and car mags during class.

Kurt Vonnegut whoops! I just finished "Timequake" recently. Not as good as some of his other stuff that I've read (Cat's Cradle, etc.)

Magazines:
Maxim Blender (subscription)
Maxim (read monthly)
Sport Compact Car (read monthly)
Import Tuner (look at the pictures monthly)

Books:
Anything by Neal Stephenson (Snow Crash, Cryptonomicon, Zodiac, etc.)
I'll read anything from fantasy to sci-fi to biographical to thrillers to whatever.
Also, recently read Arthur C. Clarkes "Rondezvous with Rama"...
Currently, I'm reading "The Smell of Apples" can't remember the name of the author...

I love reading.

I mainly read magazines.

Monthly I buy Ralph, NZ Performance Car and ocasionally FHM.
used to have a subscription to High Performance Imports magazine (Australian) but the subscription ran out.

I used to read alot of books but lately haven't been able to concentrate for long enough to get into a book, thats why magazines are ideal (and they have pictures )
